About aspect ratio – the term aspect ratio refers to the width of a screen in related to height. Ration can be expressed as “width * height”. The common ratio we usually see: 4:3, 16:9, 21:9. Aspect ratio seems to be a big problem in TV nowadays. We have regular TV and wide TV, they have different aspect ratio.
4:3 means 4 units wide by 3 units high. It is the standard television format. 16:9 get the acceptance as the new standard for widescreen TV, high-definition video and DVD. 21:9 is a very wide screen format used for theatrical release movies. Video when transfer to different aspect ratio, pictures will be out of shape, shrunk or enlarged. The shape of screen has nothing to do with resolution. Most people prefer a big and wide picture regardless of resolution.
